From Vision TO Vegetables
Jubilee Farms was created to address two urgent needs in Washington, DC: access to fresh, healthy food and meaningful employment opportunities.
The Beginning
Rooted in Jubilee Housing’s mission to build Justice Housing, the idea for Jubilee Farms emerged from a partnership with Fresh Ministries to use underutilized space within affordable housing while directly benefiting residents and the surrounding community.
The Innovation
Aquaponics allows us to grow food sustainably in unexpected urban spaces. By combining fish cultivation with hydroponic growing systems, we produce food efficiently while conserving water and minimizing waste.
The Mission
Our mission is simple and powerful: provide fresh food, train people for living-wage careers, and nurture communities.
The Impact
Jubilee Farms creates pathways to employment, improves food access, and demonstrates what is possible when housing, sustainability, and workforce development come together.
